Thu, 21 Dec 2006The January 2006 report about the superintendent's Budget Advisory Group, is available here. The group itself was not constituted formally, but was convened by the superintendent as a way of getting advice about creating clarity in the school department budget presentation. The meetings were held throughout the fall of 2005, and were conducted informally. No votes were taken, and no minutes were kept. This report is the attempt of one member (me, specifically) to memorialize the consensus of the group. There were extensive discussions about the report in various drafts, but there never was a vote to approve it. Nonetheless, the report represents a number of positive steps the department could take to improve the clarity of the budget presentation. Many steps have already been taken, but several more depend on changes in school committee policy, and these await action by that body. A presentation about those changes will be on the School Committee agenda Wednesday evening, December 20. Update: The presentation itself (or at least the slides from it) can be found here. 14:00 - 21 Dec 2006 [/y6/de] link Wed, 25 Oct 2006The North Kingstown Town Council and School Committee candidate questionnaire results are posted here in an attempt to keep candidates honest.
